In what order should you apply skincare?

The four-step starter set: cleanser, toner, serum and water gel

A simple rule works for almost every routine: from the thinnest texture to the thickest, and sunscreen last in the morning.

Morning

  1. Cleanser
  2. Toner or essence
  3. Serum (for example vitamin C)
  4. Moisturiser
  5. Sunscreen

Night

  1. Cleansing balm, if you wore sunscreen or makeup
  2. Cleanser
  3. Toner or essence
  4. Serum (for example niacinamide)
  5. Moisturiser or an overnight mask

How long to wait between steps

Just until the last layer no longer feels wet, usually under a minute. There is no need to wait ten minutes.

Adding something new

Add one product at a time and use it for two weeks before adding another, so you know which one your skin likes, or does not.
